I could barely believe my eyes.I walked out onto the front porch and there was a tiny little boy, wrapped in a blanket, lying on the front steps.
I named him Thomas. Its a nice strong name, good for a boy.
I told the paper that there was no note, but really, there was. I just didnt think the poor boy needed all that media attention. He's been through enough.
The note said that his mother had died, and his elderly grandmother was having trouble looking after him on her own. She had dropped him off here after reading about the orphanage in The Ashby Times. She did the right thing, of course, dropping him somewhere safe. I just hope that this doeant turn into an epidemic of parents or guardians dropping off unwanted children.
Of course we weill always have room for the kids, but seeing so many children without families is heart breaking.
At least this little one is safe.
It's great to see that the orphanage really serves a great cause. What would have happened to that little one without it?
